NASRDA PLEDGES SUPPORT TO NEXT GENERATION OF SPACE ENTHUSIASTS

The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency, Dr. Halilu Shaba has said that NASRDA will remain an advocate for nurturing and supporting the next generation of Space enthusiasts.

Dr. Shaba who was represented by the Director, Ground Station and Mission Control, Dr. Halidu Ibrahim made this statement while receiving delegates from the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

 The Director-General who expressed delight over the activities of the young Space enthusiasts, added that NASRDA will continue to provide opportunities for young people aspiring to contribute their quota in the space sector.
 He further added that NASRDA’s dedication to nurturing talents align with one of the agency’s goal to advance Nigeria’s capabilities in Space Science and Technology, which will ultimately contribute to the nation’s socio-economic development and global scientific cooperation.
The NASRDA Boss assured the delegation of the agency’s readiness to support the council in achieving a successful workshop since it is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the event Manager, Space Generation Advisory Council SCAC, Mr. Isah Ugbede, who appreciated the Director-General for the privilege and warm reception accorded to his team, emphasized the importance of leveraging on the knowledge and expertise of professionals in NASRDA to drive innovation in Space Research and Technology.
Mr. Ugbede explained that their visit to NASRDA was to solicit for the Agency’s support towards their Workshop coming up in October and to request that the SCAC be incorporated into the NASRDA family.
The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) is a global non-governmental, organisation and network of students and young space professionals, ages from 18 to 35, with a vision to enable and empower the young generation in advancing humanity through the peaceful uses of outer space.
