Dr Shaba made this statement when he played the host to the Dean, School of Engineering, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen Scotland, at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.
The NASRDA boss further stated that the Agency as a research institution has always yearned for result oriented collaborations with relevant stakeholders like universities and other higher institutions of learning.
According to him, one of the strategic roles of the Space Agency is to aid the development of Engineers and Scientists that can impact positively on the socio-economic development of the country.
He therefore stressed the need for engineers to move a step ahead of theories and dwell more on the practical aspect of their respective vocations.
Dr Shaba who expressed gratitude for the timely visit suggested the need for more engagements considering the strategic nature of both organizations which is mutually beneficial.
Speaking earlier,the Dean, School of Engineering, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland, Professor Andy Chan said, the institution is proud to be associated with NASRDA being the leading Space Agency in Africa.
According to him,the university covers a very wide range in Engineering technology especially in the field of oil and gas, communications and cyber security hence, the need to collaborate with strategic organizations like NASRDA to enhance the cross fertilization of ideas and expertise.
He mentioned some of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals which according to him requires the involvement of NASRDA’s activities for it’s successful implementation especially as it relates to renewable energies like gas and hydrogen.
He also suggested further training programs for Engineers at the university through self sponsorship and other scholarship packages.
Robert Gordon University is a public University in Aberdeen Scotland which awards degrees in a wide range of disciplines primarily in professional, technical, health and artistic disciplines and those most applicable to business and industry.
