The Honourable Minister of Science Technology and Innovation, Senator (Dr) Olorunimbe Mamora has described the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) as key and strategic in the Ministry..
He made this remark today at NASRDA day at the ongoing Science Technology and Innovation Expo in Abuja.
The Minister said within his short stay in the ministry, the Space Agency has done a lot in contributing to the success and progress of the ministry, saying the various activities of the Agency are worthy of commendation.
According to him, NASRDA has contributed to the security efforts in the country by ensuring that through technology the nation can prove and overcome the challenge of banditry, insurgency and insecurity in collaboration with the nation’s security agencies.
Senator Mamora also commended the Space Agency for the strategic role it played in ensuring that the end of year ultimatum for the STItv to hit the airwaves was a reality.
The Honourable Minister while describing the TV station as the best medium for the Ministry to tell her story in her own way, applauded the role played by the Space Agency towards its success thus far.
He however called on the Agency to do more work, saying the reward for hard work is more work.
Earlier in his presentation entitled NASRDA at a glance, the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency,Dr Halilu Shaba gave a historical account of the Agency and her various contributions towards the development of Science and technology in the country.
He said the Agency is poised to do more in contributing towards the progress and economic advancement of the nation.
Dr Shaba explained that domiciled in the Agency are crop of scientists and innovators engaged in research that will translate to products for the overall benefits of Nigerians through commercialisation.
The NASRDA boss also promised that the Agency will continue to play it’s role, particularly in the actualization of its mandate for the development of our great nation.
The high point of the event was the presentation of one of NASRDA’s research products to the Honourable Minister by the Director General.
At the end of the event, special guests and stakeholders moved to NASRDA pavilion on tour of various research products, scientific innovation and activities of the space Agency.
