The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency, (NASRDA) Dr. Halilu Ahmad Shaba, has expressed the Agency’s resolve in working with key stakeholders across relevant sectors to birth Space designed solutions for the good and socio-economic development of the country.
He made this statement at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, between NASRDA and the Federal University Dutsin-Ma.
Dr Shaba who stated that the collaboration was long overdue said it’s a sign that the agency is taking the right step in improving effective service delivery to the nation through space science and technology.
The NASRDA helmsman explained that the partnership is well positioned towards rendering technical support and expertise to the university, adding that it will be significant to the growth and capacity building as well as the development of relevant skill sets for the Institution.
The NASRDA boss therefore assured representatives from the university of the Agency’s determination to sustain the partnership by making its resources accessible to the university.
He added that the end result for both parties would be a working relationship that will contribute to the development of the country.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, expressed delight on the partnership saying the Space Agency is crucial to national development given the direction the world is moving.
While describing NASRDA as the premier Space Agency in Africa, Prof Hamish stressed the immense contributions of Space Science and Technology which include agriculture, climate change, weather, and several sectors critical to human existence.
He added that the motivation behind this collaboration was his passion and enthusiasm for Space Science and technology.
The Vice Chancellor therefore pledged to do everything within his power to actualize the objectives of the newly signed MoU.
