Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency NASRDA, Dr. Halilu Shaba has described partnership with Proforce Galaxies Limited as unique deserving of being sustained for a long time to consolidate on efforts towards the development and sustainability of Space Science and Technology in the country.
Dr. Shaba made this call during the signing of the memorandum of understanding between NASRDA and Proforce Galaxies Limited, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The NASRDA boss who described PROFORCE as a worthy partner emphasized that sustenance of the collaboration is embedded in the principles of commitment, willingness and transparency displayed by the parties involved.
He gave the assurance that the Space Agency is willing to provide all necessary support required for the effective implementation of the provisions of the MOU adding that, the MOU must be handled in a unique manner because of the peculiarity of the existing relationship and parties involved.
Dr. Shaba who stressed that the Honourable Minister of Science Technology and Innovation, Senator Adeleke Mamora has tasked agencies to engage in barrier breaking projects and activities, reiterated his commitment towards the project for the overall benefit of the Nation at large.
Shaba further charged the representatives of both teams to hasten up the process for the implementation of the provisions of the MOU so that Nigerians will begin to enjoy its benefits in the economic projections and the tackling of insecurity, which has persisted for too long.
Speaking earlier, the Group Managing Director of PROFORCE Galaxies Limited Mr. Ade Ogundeyin commended the efforts of NASRDA in facilitating the procedures for the signing of the MOU which according to him was swift and all encompassing.
Mr. Ogundeyin who identified NASRDA as a focused said, the strategic partnership will be highly rewarding not only to parties involved but the entire nation, as the outstanding results will be among the great achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari led Administration.
According to him, PROFORCE as an organization is specialized in satellites and other related space technology and has built capacity in diverse areas of space technology in various sectors including but not limited to defence, agriculture, transportation, health, oil and gas, disaster management, border and Maritime Security.
He further stated that the main objective of PROFORCE is to be one of the major drivers of the National Space Policy as a private organisation in collaboration with NASRDA to actualize the full benefits of Nigeria Space Programme for the socio-economic development of the country.
Ogundeyin therefore called for swift action, describing the document as all-embracing and a step in the right direction which if pursued assiduously will progress into an entity that would stand alone and also get private investment to finance the project as government cannot do it alone.
The MOU between NASRDA and PROFORCE Galaxies Limited is geared towards building a formidable collaboration that will advance research and development in the field of Space Science and Engineering Technology.
