In a bid to encourage joint participation of relevant stakeholders in the field of geospatial technology, the Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency, has expressed the agency’s commitment to partnering with the next generation of capable organizations to further its objectives for the benefit of the country.
Dr. Shaba made this known when he played host to a delegation from the Unique Mappers Network Nigeria at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The NASRDA Boss stated that the agency cannot do it alone and is willing to collaborate with the visiting team in providing local partnership platform, needed for their network to receive foreign recognition and global support.
Dr. Shaba, while lauding the team for their passion towards work and the progress achieved thus far, however encouraged them to keep up the good work and pledged the undying support of the space agency to their organisation.
He emphasized that nothing is impossible for the young population to accomplish given their strength, adding that the collaboration between both parties will birth indigenous solutions that will be beneficial to the welfare of Nigerians.
In his remarks, the National Coordinator, Unique Mappers Network Nigeria, Mr. Victor Sunday appreciated the audience granted him and his team by the NASRDA boss, stating that the DG is a senior mentor and an adviser to his organisation.
He applauded the DG for his support through the years, which has contributed to the growth Unique Mapping Network Nigeria and of immense benefit to its development.
Mr. Sunday expressed enthusiasm towards partnership, stating that the initiation of local partnership with the Space Agency will give the Unique Mappers brand a lot more credibility in the eyes of foreign sponsors.
Unique Mappers Network Nigeria, is a Nigerian registered non-profit organisation with a mandate and mission for humanitarian response and community development, through open mapping data collection, open source geospatial systems and youth empowerment.
